The price of corn has tripled over the last decade as the government continues to promote corn-based ethanol as an alternative energy source. Because 40% of corn is used as fuel, the price of foods that use corn have risen. The Renewable Fuels Association, however, contests the relationship between ethanol production and rising food prices, instead blaming oil and transportation costs.
