Mobile payments–payments made using a mobile device–are two to five years away from mass popularity, say experts, despite the technology to do so being currently available. While more consumers are making purchases online with their smart phones, few have used their smart phone for a purchase in a brick and mortar store. One of the reasons is the lack of a universal payment tool supported by mobile carriers.
