Scientists are always thinking up new ways to improve global food production and have found opportunities to increase the output of many food items. There are 17 key crops that provide over 80 percent of the world’s caloric intake. The goals are to produce more food from the same amount of space and to use less water to help those crops grow. These goals can be achieved if scientists continue their pursuit.
